CSS Orphanage

Today we took a taxi up the hill to an orphanage. CSS (Christian Salvation Service) runs the orphanage; they have 28 babies ranging from newborn to 2 years old.
We went today as part of a group of T.A.S. volunteers; one of the music teachers at T.A.S. is in charge of a music program for the children at the orphanage (once a week for around an hour the teachers volunteer to play musical instruments with the children as a way to stimulate their interest in music and to give them some loving attention.

We went through a required orientation (about an hour), and then spent time with several adorable babies. We are not allowed to take any pictures of the babies. We had a great time and will be going back at least once a week to spend some time volunteering there.

On our way home from the orphanage we walked down one segment of the Tien Mou steps- quite steep and very lush plant life—quite a few geckos as well ☺ I couldn’t help noticing the philodendron growing wild along the way!

We stopped at a little vegetarian restaurant along the way for lunch; to our pleasant surprise two teachers from T.A.S. were eating there- they had along their little ones (newborn and 9 months)--- so we got to hold them a bit and took one picture with the newborn- adorable!
